Mr. Nalinda Illangakoon

Mr. Nalinda Illangakoon

Mr. Nalinda Illangakoon

Appointed to the Board in January 2021

Mr. Illangakoon is an experienced professional with 20 years of overall experience, during which he has held senior management positions for over 15 years.

Mr. Illangakoon began his career as a Commissioned Officer in the Sri Lanka Army from July 1992 to January 2004. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the Sri Lankan military forces, including the Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) and Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) medals for outstanding performance in intense and dangerous battlefront engagements, awarded by all three forces. He is also a qualified commercial pilot with FAA and CAA certifications.
Subsequently, Mr. Illangakoon has held various senior management positions in both the public and private sectors of the country. He served as the Chairman of the Sugathadasa National Stadium Complex Authority from January 2020 to February 2021, Chairman/Director of the National Youth Corps from January 2013 to January 2015, Chairman of Skill Development Fund Ltd from November 2014 to January 2015, First Officer of Cinnamon Air (Pvt) Ltd from September 2013 to January 2015, Head of Transport at the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd from October 2010 to September 2015, Head of Security Services at the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited from March 2006 to June 2013, Head of Circulation at the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd from November 2008 to October 2010, General Manager of Caravan Foods (Pvt) Ltd, Head of HR at Lanka Equities Group of Company, Operations Director at Benchmark Safety Providers (Pvt) Ltd, and Director of the Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

Mr. Illangakoon assumed the role of Chairman of CEB in June 2013, having previously served as the Vice Chairman of the CEB. He also serves as the Chairman of LTL Transformers (Pvt) Ltd, LTL Galvanizers (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka Energies (Pvt) Ltd, Trincomalee Power Co. (Pvt) Ltd, and Lanka Electricity Company (Pvt) Ltd. Additionally, he holds the positions of Chairman/Managing Director of EZI Packaging (Pvt) Ltd and Director/CEO of APEX Campus For Global Education.

Mr. Illangakoon holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wales, UK, and a Diploma in Human Resource Management from the National Institute of Business Management, Sri Lanka.

Mr. Jayawardana played an integral role in the success of LTLH over the years. He began his career at Sri Lanka’s state-owned power utility, CEB, as an Electrical Engineer attached to its Transformer Repair section. At that time, Sri Lanka used to import all its transformer requirements. While working in the Transformer Repair section, he conceived the idea for Sri Lanka to have its own transformer brand and transformer manufacturing facility. This vision led to a series of initiatives within CEB in the late 70s and early 80s, ultimately resulting in the incorporation of Lanka Transformers Ltd (now LTLH) in 1980.
Mr. Jayawardana joined the newly incorporated company, Lanka Transformers Ltd (now LTLH), as its Transformer Design Engineer. After his appointment as General Manager of LTLH in 1988, he also spearheaded LTLH’s diversification into the galvanizing industry and power generation business, while expanding the Group’s target markets by venturing into overseas markets. After guiding the company for 40 years to become one of the largest in Sri Lanka, in 2020, he stepped down from his role as Chief Executive Officer but continues to be an active member of the Board of Directors.
Today, Mr. Jayawardana is one of the most respected senior engineers in Sri Lanka. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) London.

Mr. Mohamed Mihular

Mr. Mohamed Mihular

Mr. Mihular is the Former Managing Partner of KPMG Sri Lanka & Maldives and the former Chairman of KPMG’s Middle East & South Asia (MESA) Regional Cluster (1 October 2018 to 30 September 2021). He previously served a term as the Chief Operating Officer of the MESA Regional Office and was also on KPMG’s Europe Middle East & Africa (EMA) Board and on the Global Council of KPMG International.
Mr. Mihular is a Past President and Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) – UK. He also served as the Chairman of the CIMA Sri Lanka Division in 2013. Mr. Reyaz has completed International Executive Education programs at INSEAD, France, Harvard Business School, and the London Business School, UK.
Additionally, Mr. Mihular served as a Board Member of the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) for a 5-year term from July 1995 to December 2000. Subsequently, he served on the IASC’s Standing Interpretations Committee for a year and as a Member of the IFRS Advisory Council of the International Accounting Standards Board for a 5-year period. He also served as a member of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) for a six-year term from January 2013 to December 2018.

Mr. Vajira Kulathilake

Mr. Kulathilake holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering with First-Class Honours from the University of Moratuwa and an M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and has obtained Fellowship memberships of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.
Mr. Kulathilake has over 35 years of experience in Banking and Finance and Capital Market operations in Sri Lanka. He led the NDB Investment Banking Cluster from 2003 to 2020 and played a pivotal role in establishing the company’s current leadership position. He introduced several innovative financial products to the country and was honored as the Best Investment Banking CEO in Sri Lanka in 2014 and 2015 by the Global Banking and Finance Review, recognizing his significant contributions to the investment banking sector in Sri Lanka.
Before joining the NDB Group, Mr. Kulathilaka held key strategic positions in several high-profile organizations in Sri Lanka, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Sampath Bank. He also served as the Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange from 2014 to 2017 and as the Chairman of the South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE) from 2015 to 2017. Additionally, he is a council member of the University of Moratuwa.
Mr. Kulathilake also serves as a director of Sampath Bank PLC, Printcare PLC, Hemas Hospitals (Pvt) Ltd, and Pan Asia Power PLC.

Prof. Sirimal Abeyratne

Prof. Sirimal Abeyratne

Prof. Abeyratne is a Professor of Economics at the University of Colombo. He earned his PhD from the Free University of Amsterdam, MA and MPhil degrees from the International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colombo. He has served as a visiting fellow at universities in Japan, Vietnam, Australia, and Italy, and has worked as a consultant for various international organizations, government agencies, and corporate sector organizations in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, he is also a member of the Economic Freedom Network (EFN) Asia.

Prof. Abeyratne conducts extensive research on subjects related to the Sri Lankan economy and regularly contributes to scholarly literature on these matters.

Mr. Meepura, Director of the Department of Management Audit in the General Treasury, has nearly 25 years of experience in the public sector, including 10 years serving on the boards of several State-Owned Enterprises, such as CEB, State Pharmaceutical Corporation, Chilaw Plantations Limited, Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute, Sugarcane Research Institute, and the National Youth Corps.

Currently, Mr. Meepura serves as a director of LTL Transformers (Pvt) Ltd, LTL Galvanizers (Pvt) Ltd, and the CEB.

Mr. Meepura is an alumnus of Taxila Central College, Horana, and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He holds a Master of Finance and Business Economics degree from the University of Adelaide, Australia, a Master of Business Studies from the University of Colombo, and a B.Sc. (HRM) Special Honors degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Mr. Gamage is a senior counsel with nearly 30 years of legal practice, specializing in civil matters in District Courts, Appellate Courts, and the Supreme Court. He holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Colombo and was admitted to the Bar as an Attorney-at-Law in June 1994. Additionally, Mr. Gamage previously served as the Chairman of the Urban Settlement Development Authority for a term of 5 years.

Mr. Gamage also serves as a director of LTL Transformers (Pvt) Ltd and LTL Galvanizers (Pvt) Ltd.

Mr. Preminda Seneviratne

Mr. Seneviratne is a Chartered Electrical Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the field of engineering and technology. He is a fellow member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK, and the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, as well as a Member of Engineers Australia. He is an alumnus of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and obtained his Electrical Degree in 1986. During his university days, he excelled in sports and earned university colours in Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, and Hockey. He received the Best All-Round Sportsman of the Year award and also served as the sports captain and president of the sports council at the University of Moratuwa. Additionally, he earned his Master of Business Administration degree in Engineering and the Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Technology from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and the Postgraduate Diploma in Electric Power Distribution Systems from the University of Trondheim, Norway.

Mr. Seneviratne joined the Ceylon Electricity Board in 1986 as an electrical engineer and served in various divisions of the CEB in different capacities. In late 2022, he reached the pinnacle of his career at CEB by becoming its General Manager. He is one of the pioneers in the Sri Lankan Power Sector, introducing rooftop solar schemes in the country and contributing immensely to the promotion of rooftop solar. He took the leadership role in introducing Smart Metering Systems, Advanced Distribution Management Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, Key Performance Indicators, LNG to the power sector, Roadmap for Digital Transformation CEB, and Roadmap for Renewable Power Development in the CEB.

During his career, he served as the Additional Secretary (Technical) of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development from 2011 to 2015. During that time, he was actively involved in urban regeneration works in the metro Colombo region. He also served as the first Project Director of the Metro Colombo Urban Development Project, a US$223 million project financed by the World Bank for a four-year period from its inception. In addition, he held positions as a Director of the Urban Development Authority, Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation, Lanka Electricity Company (Pvt) Limited, and Waters Edge. Mr. Seneviratne is also an active member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and served as the Chairman of the IET Sri Lanka Network and as a member of the South Asia Communities Committee of the IET.

Mr. Marikkar took over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LTLH, succeeding its founder CEO, Mr. Upali Jayawardana. Before assuming the role of CEO, he served as the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO at LTLH, working closely under the mentorship of Mr. Upali Jayawardana. He has been a Director of the Company since 2005.

With prior experience at LECO and CEB, Nuhuman has developed extensive expertise in construction and project management within the electrical sector. He has overseen the development of power plants employing various technologies, high-voltage transmission lines, and substation projects, both at CEB and LTLH. He has also served as the project director for all thermal power projects undertaken by the Group.

Mr. Marikkar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, a Master’s degree in Construction Project Management from the University of Moratuwa, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering from NIBM. He is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) London. With over three decades of industry experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his role.

Mr. Ravindra Pitigalage

Mr. Pitigalage, who serves as a Director and the Deputy CEO of LTLH, holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in the United Kingdom and a Fellow of CPA (Australia). Before joining the Group in 1995, Ravindra worked at ANZ Grindlays Bank-Colombo as an Assistant Manager.

During his tenure at LTLH, he has closely collaborated with numerous financial institutions, both within and outside Sri Lanka, securing financing that has contributed to the continuous growth of LTLH. He has been instrumental in structuring, negotiating, and securing financing for large infrastructure projects with a total value exceeding USD 500 million.

Some of the major financial deals he has spearheaded include the Export Credit Bank-backed Syndication for the 300 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant in Kerawalapitiya, where HSBC-Hong Kong acted as the arranger; USD 62 million financing for a 100 MW power plant in Puttalum; the leveraged management buyout valued at USD 5 million of the shares held by ASEA Brown Boveri in LTLH; USD 25 million World Bank-assisted 10 MW Wind Power Project in Kalpitiya; USD 70 million financing for the two 52.2 MW HFO Fired Power Plants in Bangladesh; and USD 66 million project financing by OPEC Fund and the Islamic Development Bank, along with IDCOL, for the 115 MW Feni Lanka Power Plant in Bangladesh. Ravindra was honored as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the year by CIMA-Sri Lanka in 2008.

Mr. Pitigalage, who serves as a Director and the Deputy CEO of LTLH, holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in the United Kingdom and a Fellow of CPA (Australia). Prior to joining the Group in 1995, Ravindra served as an Assistant Manager at ANZ Grindlays Bank-Colombo.

Mr. Nanayakkara joined LTLH shortly after graduating from the University of Moratuwa in 1995. Prior to his current role, he served in various capacities within the Group, including Design Engineer, Engineering Manager, and Chief Technology Officer. During this period, he held overall responsibility for the engineering and technology development of the Group and its products. This encompassed the design and manufacturing of transformers, the design and development of thermal power plants, wind and hydropower plants, high-voltage grid substations, and more. His extensive experience covers design, engineering, procurement, logistics, and construction (EPC) of thermal power plants, grid substations, wind, hydro, and solar power plants.
Mr. Nanayakkara served as the Chief Project Manager for the 300 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant project in Kerawalapitiya, which was constructed at a cost exceeding USD 300 million. He also held the position of Project Director for all the power plant projects undertaken by the Group overseas, with a cumulative capacity of over 900 MW. The design, engineering, procurement, and construction of these power plant projects, valued at over USD 1.2 billion, fell under Mr. Nanayakkara’s direct purview. His contributions played a pivotal role in establishing LTLH as a leading power plant development company in the region. Currently, Mr. Nanayakkara carries the crucial responsibility of leading the construction of a 350 MW LNG Power Plant in Kerawalapitiya. Additionally, he was instrumental in introducing energy-saving projects to industries, developing an improved and effective lightning protection system for distribution transformers, and creating self-protected transformers.
Mr. Nanayakkara holds a BSc.Eng (Hons) Degree in Electrical Engineering with First-Class Honours from the University of Moratuwa. He has also earned an MEng degree from the same university. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer (CEng) and a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) registered with the Engineering Councils of Sri Lanka, the UK, and Australia. Furthermore, he is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Sri Lanka, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK), a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (USA), and a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.

Mr. Sudath Annasiwatte

Mr. Sudath Annasiwatte

Mr. Annasiwatte joined the Group in 1988 as the Head of the Transformer Repair Department and was subsequently promoted to Assistant Manager of the Transformer Manufacturing Facility. He later transitioned to the Construction Project Management division of LTLH, where he held the position of Senior Manager of Special Projects.

He played a distinctive role in overseeing the construction of all the power plant projects undertaken by the Group. Mr. Annasiwatte has served as the Project Manager for numerous infrastructure projects related to transmission lines, thermal and small hydropower plants, and underground cable systems. Notably, he served as the Project Coordinator for the 300 MW Combined Cycle power plant project at Kerawalapitiya during its construction from 2007 to 2010. Currently, he holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at LTL Galvanizers (Private) Limited and also serves as the Group’s Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Annasiwatte holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a National Diploma in Technology from the University of Moratuwa. He is also a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology in the UK.

Mr. H D Chaminda

Mr. Chaminda holds a dual role as the Chief Technology Officer at LTLH and Chief Executive Officer at LTL Transformers (Pvt) Ltd. His journey with the company began in 1999 as an Electrical Engineer, progressing through various positions, including Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Vice President Electrical, and ultimately, Chief Executive Officer.

Currently, Mr. Chaminda leads LTL Holding Group’s technological initiatives as the Group Head of Technology. He also serves as the CEO of LTL Transformers (Pvt) Ltd, a vital subsidiary specializing in distribution transformer manufacturing. In addition to these roles, he holds directorial positions in several other group enterprises.

His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. Furthering his education, he earned a master’s degree in Strategic Marketing from Cardiff Metropolitan University, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Mr. Chaminda’s professional expertise is underscored by a range of certifications, including Chartered Engineer from the Institute Of Engineers Sri Lanka (MIESL), Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst from the Corporate Finance Institute (CFI) FMVA, Certified Management Accountant (CMA) from the Institute of Certified Management Accountants Australia (CMA 44139), and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from the International Council for Quality (ICF0910820581).
