Environmental Sustainability

“Dasa Dahasak Mee Thuru” Project

In line with our ESG vision, we initiated the “Dasa Dahasak Mee Thuru” Project. It is a nationwide environmental initiative aimed at planting 10,000 Mee trees across multiple phases in more than 10 districts in Sri Lanka, with completion targeted by December 2027.

This major initiative is designed to strengthen environmental conservation and enhance community well-being by harnessing the ecological, agricultural, ayurvedic medicinal and economical value of the Mee tree. Through active engagement with local communities, the initiative fosters environmental awareness, encourages public participation in tree planting activities, and contributes to the country’s long term sustainability goals.

Future Capacity in LNG-Based Thermals & Renewable Energy

Our commitment lies in fulfilling the environmental targets set by our operating markets through a focus on future capacity expansions in renewable energy and LNG-based thermal power plants.

Our primary business units hold ISO 14001:2015 certification for their Environmental Management System, acknowledging the effectiveness of our operational systems in promoting environmental performance. Additionally, we surpass the required guidelines to ensure our operations have minimal negative impact on the environment.

Commitment Towards Minimising Wastage and Recycling

Minimising waste is of utmost importance to us. We optimise resource usage, including water and energy, and collaborate with external technical partners to explore innovative uses for waste materials in our production process. We also prioritize resource reuse whenever possible.

Use of High-Quality Raw Materials

We maintain an unwavering commitment to using high-quality fuel, chemicals, and raw materials in our operations, ensuring minimal environmental impact from these substances while safeguarding the environment.

Engaging in CSR Projects to Improve the Environment

Our staff actively participate in diverse environmental projects, encompassing beach clean-ups, tree planting, and cultivation of vegetables, fruits, and trees on unused land within our business premises. Additionally, they conduct energy conservation awareness sessions for the broader community.
