Sahasdhanavi Limited Marks Major Investment Milestone with BOI Agreement Registration
Sahasdhanavi Limited has achieved a significant milestone in the development of its 350 MW RLNG/Diesel Operable Combined Cycle Power Plant at Kerawalapitiya, with the registration of its Agreement with the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
The Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka has certified that the Agreement between the Board and Sahasdhanavi Limited was registered in accordance with Section 17(2) of the BOI of Sri Lanka Law No. 4 of 1978 on 13th August 2026, marking an important step forward in the advancement of the project.
The BOI registration represents an important institutional milestone for Sahasdhanavi Limited and reinforces the company’s commitment to investing in and developing strategic energy infrastructure that contributes to Sri Lanka’s long-term energy security and economic development.
Located within the Kerawalapitiya Industrial Zone, the Sahasdhanavi 350 MW RLNG/Diesel Operable Combined Cycle Power Plant is being developed to support the country’s evolving electricity demand while providing enhanced operational flexibility and security of supply. The plant is designed to initially operate on diesel, with the capability to transition to Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) upon the availability of the necessary RLNG infrastructure and supply in Sri Lanka.
The Sahasdhanavi project will also further strengthen Kerawalapitiya’s position as a strategic power generation hub in Sri Lanka. Together with the 350 MW Sobadhanavi Combined Cycle Power Plant and the 300 MW Yugadhanavi Combined Cycle Power Plant, the project will contribute to establishing 1,000 MW of combined power generation capacity within the Kerawalapitiya area.
Beyond its contribution to electricity generation, the project is expected to create wider economic value through construction, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics and related services, while generating employment opportunities and supporting the development of local technical and professional expertise.
The BOI Agreement registration reflects Sahasdhanavi Limited’s continued commitment to working in partnership with the Government of Sri Lanka, the Board of Investment, regulatory authorities, technical partners, consultants, business partners and other stakeholders to advance strategically important infrastructure projects aligned with the country’s energy and economic priorities. Sahasdhanavi Limited extends its sincere appreciation to all stakeholders for their continued support, cooperation and contribution towards the successful progress of this important project.
The registration of the BOI Agreement marks another important step in Sahasdhanavi Limited’s journey towards delivering a major addition to Sri Lanka’s power generation capacity and supporting a more secure, reliable and future ready energy sector.
